Development Stages of Website Design
Designing a website for commercial purpose is not as easy as designing a personal blog. There are some considerations worth take to keep dollar coming through the web. Some webmasters made mistakes. The sometimes don’t design site well that it fail to draw visitors. There are common stages that website come to pass before they be a good interesting website that can draw more and more people to come.
1. Style over Substance
This design is the web-design which your agencies may like to see: beautiful with all the latest technology inside. At this first stage, an entire site might be a Flash site. Or there might be some beautiful JavaScript mouse-over effects or drop-down menus in the design. This is a beautiful type of a website but as the name says, style over substance.
2. Designing for online visibility
Months later, an ineffective web design begins to hit. A site will typically get rejected by many of the major directories, not be indexed by the major search engines, or not get the traffic or sales that were projected based on the various types of marketing strategies used. This can be because the beautifully designed site couldn’t possibly be the problem with low site traffic. Company will start searching for marketing expert to handle this kind of situation and try hard to put their site back on the list.
3. Designing for audience
After spending dollars of research, company will notice why their beautifully designed site is not on the list. They finally know that they just didn’t design or write an effective website for their target audience. Therefore, they will now try to make a plan how to make their site useful for their target audience.
4. Site redesign
After careful usability and search engine visibility analyses, web site owners finally have an effective web site. They finally know that a good website is a well-written and well-designed one. They will start code and design their website for user friendliness. Engine visibility generally gets the most traffic and resulting sales because it was written, programmed, and designed for end users. By doing so, they are generally put their site back on the list.
Experience is the best teacher. But it doesn’t mean that you have to experience your own failure before you finally reach your success. Learn from someone mistakes and don’t do the same.
